Job
Seekers Networking Groups
Job networking groups are organized to help people
network as they look for a new career. The following list is from
the San Francisco Bay Area. It includes organizations where Irene
Marshall has been a featured speaker one or multiple times.
Private and church-sponsored groups have active e-lists
where people share information about job leads, inside contacts
and other helpful information. You need to attend one time in person
to be included in the e-lists. Smaller support groups are often
created where people meet separately to discuss their job searches
and provide individual support.
“Alumni” who have gotten jobs are often
now hiring managers . They liked to return to the groups to find
new employees as a way of identifying good people and supporting
the organizations.
- State of California-sponsored (Employment Development
Department – EDD)
These are organized in collaboration with a non-profit called
Experience Unlimited. Local cities, churches and other organizations
often provide meeting rooms. Volunteer services are required for
participation.
